The first edition of the TerraLenta Film Fest, the international film festival dedicated to environmental documentaries, concluded on July 27 with the closing ceremony held at Largo Risorgimento in Pignola (PZ). On this occasion, 9 winning documentaries were selected from the 30 films in the official selection.

Award

The award for Best Feature Film was given to LIFE and other problems by Max Kestner <>.

The award for Best Short Film was given to Daru/n by Benjamin Hindrichs <>.

The award for Best Cinematography was granted to Fernanda Pineda and Hanz Rippe for Mountains that weep, the European premiere documentary directed by writer Aurora Solà, a profound portrayal of the culture and geography of an Indigenous nation in Colombia within the context of modernization.

Special Mentions

The jury also awarded two additional prizes – Special Jury Prize –, which were given to the feature film As aguas que correm by Julein Heurtier <>, while for the short films the award went to Translocations by Nick Jordan <>.

The festival direction instead awarded two Special Mentions: among the feature films, the recognition went to the world premiere Estive by Martin Sorbets << a new perspective on the agro-pastoral world, highlighting the social and cultural role of the shepherd in contrast with crystallized topoi >>; among the short films, the selection went to U cuntu di Nenè che imparò a volare by Giorgia Amodio << a visual and historiographic journey that brings to light the complex environmental challenges of a territory, while intertwining the search for experimental solutions capable of restoring dignity to the social fabric and enhancing its forms of resistance >>.

Finally, the Audience Award was granted, based on both in-theater screenings and the streaming platform experience. For feature films, the award went to Ìsulas de s’ìsula by Lorenzo Sibiriu, while for short films it was awarded to Yo vivo aquì by Filippo Ciccone.
